Rail News: M&A

Short line to purchase CSXT track totaling 93 miles

advertisement

M & B Railroad L.L.C. (MNBR) recently filed an exemption notice with Surface Transportation Board to acquire two line segments from CSX Transportation.

The segments include 30 track miles between Burkeville and Dallas County, Ala., and 63 track miles between Dallas County and Myrtlewood, Ala.

The transaction also includes CSXT's yard in Selma, Ala., 17 stations and 14 miles of overhead trackage rights between Burkeville and the Class I's Montgomery, Ala., yard. The trackage rights would enable MNBR to interchange traffic with CSXT at Montgomery Yard.

The 50-mile short line — which is owned and operated by holding company Rail Management Corp. — and Class I expect to finalize the transaction Nov. 16.
