On June 1, Kaw River Railroad Inc. (KRR) began providing switching services to shippers on Kansas City Southern's and Kansas City Terminal Railway's (KCT) tracks in and around Kansas City, Mo.

KRR reached an agreement with KCS and KCT to lease and operate 12 track miles owned by the Class I and 87-mile short line, and 6.2 track miles owned by KCT over which KCS possesses operating authority.

KRR is owned and operated by the Watco Cos. Inc., which controls eight short lines operating in 10 states.
