Golden Isles Terminal Railroad to acquire Georgia line from CSXT

advertisement

Golden Isles Terminal Railroad Inc. (GIT) recently filed an exemption notice with the Surface Transportation Board to acquire from CSX Transportation and operate 6.5 track miles in Savannah, Ga. The 33-mile short line also plans to lease the line's right of way.

Late last year, GIT obtained trackage rights from CSXT to operate over a line near Georgia Ports Authority’s Garden City Terminal and the Class I's Savannah yard. The rights enable the short line to access the yard — which GIT is leasing from CSXT — and provide terminal switching and other services for port customers.
