Actuant Corp. recently acquired Templeton, Kenly & Co. Inc. for $48 million in cash.

Templeton supplies hydraulic pumps and tools, mechanical jacks, wrenches and actuators, many of which are used in the rail industry. The company markets the products under various brand names, including Simplex, Uni-Lift and Pow’r-Riser.

Templeton will operate as a unit within Actuant’s industrial segment, which includes Enerpac. Actuant supplies position and motion-control systems, and hydraulic and electrical tools and supplies.

Templeton’s mechanical jack product line and railroad end-market represent “attractive market extensions,” said Actuant Chief Operating Officer Mark Goldstein in a prepared statement.
