AmeriCast Technologies recently acquired Atlas Castings and Technology, which supplies specialty steel castings to the energy and defense industries. Terms weren’t disclosed.

A portfolio company of private equity investment firm Castle Harlan, AmeriCast produces steel castings for the rail, mining and heavy construction industries. The company’s customers include Caterpillar, Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. and General Electric Co.

“The merger of these two companies gives the combined business a strong strategic balance of industries and customers,” said Castle Harlan Senior Managing Director Howard Morgan and Associate Erica Tsai in a joint statement.

In November 2006, Castle Harlan, AmeriCast Technologies management and Australian steel product manufacturer Bradken Operations Pty. Ltd. purchased AmeriCast for $110 million.
