Anacostia & Pacific Co. Inc. recently filed an exemption notice with the Surface Transportation Board to lease from Burlington Northern Santa Fe and operate about 22.4 track miles in central Minnesota.

The lines run between St. Cloud, and St. Joseph and Cold Spring, and include related yard and industry tracks. The short-line holding company also plans to acquire incidental trackage rights from BNSF to access leased industry and yard tracks from a mainline near St. Cloud.

Last year, Anacostia & Pacific established new Class III carrier Northern Lines Railway L.L.C. to operate the lines. The company also owns and operates Pacific Harbor Line Inc., New York & Atlantic Railway Co., Louisville & Indiana Railroad Co., and Chicago SouthShore & South Bend Railroad.
