The Surface Transportation Board recently granted Finger Lakes Railway Corp. an exemption to acquire control of Ontario Central Railroad Corp.

In June, the 118-mile Finger Lakes Railway purchased 81 percent of Ontario Central's stock from the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville Railroad Corp. Ontario Central, operates 14 track miles in New York leased from Ontario County, connects with Finger Lakes Railway in Shortsville, N.Y. Ontario Central also interchanges with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway.

Finger Lakes Railway, which owns the Finger Lakes Scenic Railway, plans to operate Ontario Central as an independent subsidiary.
