HNTB Corp. recently reached an agreement with TEI Engineers & Planners Inc. to purchase all the Florida-based transportation planning, engineering and design firm's stock. The transaction is scheduled to be finalized July 1.

Founded in 1991, TEI offers engineering and operations analysis, traffic-signal systems, planning and environmental studies, highway design and ITS services, which will complement HNTB's service offerings, officials believe.

"TEI's intelligent transportation systems expertise will be especially valued by our clients nationwide," said HNTB President Ken Graham in a prepared statement.

TEI co-founders David Gwynn Jr. and Andrés Núñez will serve as HNTB vice presidents; Gwynn will manage the combined firms' Orlando office.

HNTB provides transportation planning, engineering and design services at 60 nationwide offices.
