Indiana Rail Road takes ownership of former CPR line

advertisement

On Saturday, the Indiana Rail Road Co. (INRD) began operating Canadian Pacific Railway’s former 92.3-mile Latta Subdivision between Fayette and Bedford, Ind.

In November 2005, the Class I and short line reached an agreement under which INRD would purchase the line. The Surface Transportation Board approved the sale on May 11.

The sale includes trackage rights over CSX Transportation’s line between Chicago and Terre Haute, Ind., and Bedford and Louisville, Ky.

The 155-mile INRD interchanges with CPR, CSXT, Canadian National Railway Co., Norfolk Southern Railway, Indiana Southern Railroad, Central Railroad Co. of Indiana and Louisville & Indiana Railroad Co. The purchased line provides INRD a connection to Paducah & Louisville Railway Inc.
