Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd. (IAIS) recently completed a deal to lease a 32-mile line between Utica and Henry Ill., from CSX Transportation. The 552-mile regional will operate the line, which serves shippers in LaSalle, Peru, Depue, Putnam and Henry.

“This transaction helps IAIS to have better control over its mainline operations to Chicago and also to Peoria,” said IAIS President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Miller in a prepared statement.

A Railroad Development Corp. subsidiary founded in 1984, IAIS operates between Omaha, Neb., and Chicago on lines formerly owned by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, which was liquidated in 1980.
