advertisement
James River Coal Co. recently acquired coal reserves and a rail load-out facility in southern Indiana from Indiana Land and Mineral Co. L.L.C. for $9 million.
The acquisition is part of James River Coal’s plan to expand its Illinois Basin mining operations.
The rail load-out facility will enable the company to increase shipments to existing cusomters, as well as ship coal by rail to potential customer in other regions by connecting with CSX Transportation’s and Norfolk Southern Railway’s rail networks.
