R. J. Corman Railroad Group LLC announced Dec. 4 that it has completed its anticipated acquisition of the Owego and Harford Railway, Lehigh Railway and Luzerne and Susquehanna Railway.

The acquisition increases the number of short lines in the group to 17, and expands the company's transloading services with the integration of TranZ sand transload, R. J. Corman officials said in a press release.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The three short lines and related entities were founded by Steve May and operate in New York and Pennsylvania, hauling commodities such as sand, scrap, feed products, plastic, propane and wood products. The lines, which handle about 14,000 rail cars annually, interchange with Norfolk Southern Railway and the Reading, Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad.

"Over the past few months, we have been learning the operations of the new companies and are confident in a smooth and effective transition for our customers," said Ray Goss, president of R. J. Corman Railroad Co.
