Regional Rail acquires debris transfer station in Pennsylvania

On Friday, Regional Rail L.L.C. announced it acquired a rail-served construction and demolition debris transfer station in Conshohocken, Pa., that formerly was known as Conshohocken Rail L.L.C.
Regional Rail established a new company, Conshohocken Recycling & Rail Transfer L.L.C. (CRRT), to operate the facility. The high-throughput transfer station features dual inbound and outbound truck scales and a 25,000-square-foot transfer building on a 12-acre site. CRRT also owns and operates a fleet of 81 recently refurbished high-capacity gondola cars for transporting the unrecyclable portion of construction and demolition debris from the greater Philadelphia area to rail-served landfills.
The facility is ideally located to serve the growing recycling market and help remove large trucks from local roadways, Regional Rail officials said in a prepared statement.
“This acquisition illustrates Regional Rail’s intent to look at rail-related entities and operations in addition to the traditional short-line deals,” said Regional Rail President Bob Parker.
Regional Rail also owns East Penn Railroad L.L.C., Middletown & New Jersey Railroad L.L.C. and Tyburn Railroad L.L.C.
