Regional Rail to acquire Tyburn Railroad’s short-line, transload assets

On Friday, Regional Rail L.L.C. announced it entered into an agreement to acquire the rail, transload and trucking assets of Tyburn Railroad Co.
A newly formed Regional Rail subsidiary, Tyburn Railroad L.L.C. (TYBR), will control the assets of Tyburn Railroad, which operates a short line and liquid/dry bulk transload facility, and provides truck pick-up and delivery services from its Morrisville, Pa., facility. Tyburn Railroad connects with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway.
Regional Rail — which also owns the East Penn Railroad L.L.C. and Middletown & New Jersey Railroad L.L.C. — recently filed a notice of exemption with the Surface Transportation Board and plans to commence operations of TYBR on Sept. 1.
“The acquisition of the Tyburn allows us to continue to focus on growing our core short-line railroad portfolio, while also expanding our current service offerings to include transloading and regional truck pickup and delivery,” said Regional Rail President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Parker in a prepared statement.
