Rio Valley Railroad to lease UP lines in Lone Star State

advertisement

Rio Valley Railroad Inc. (RVRI) recently filed an exemption notice with the Surface Transportation Board to lease more than 17 track miles in Cameron County, Texas, from Union Pacific Railroad.

The transaction includes a portion of an industrial lead from UP's Brownsville Subdivision mainline to its Harlingen Yard in Harlingen; an industrial lead from the yard to near Rogers Lacy; and about five track miles in the yard.

If approved by the STB, RVRI subsidiary Rio Valley Switching Co. — a 70-mile short line based in McAllen, Texas — will operate the lines.
