On Oct. 13, the Surface Transportation Board will conduct a hearing in Washington, D.C., to hear arguments concerning a proposed lease transaction between CSX Transportation and the Buckingham Branch Railroad Co. (BBRR).
The 40-mile short line is seeking board approval to lease from CSXT a 199.7-mile line between Clifton Forge and Richmond, Va. BBRR also plans to assume CSXT's lease on a 9.1-mile Norfolk Southern Railway line between Gordonsville and Orange, Va.
Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes officials requested the hearing because "oral arguments would be helpful to the board in its review of the case," according to the union's STB filing.
