Short line seeks to purchase Iowa track from UP
advertisement
D&W Railroad Inc. recently filed an exemption notice with Surface Transportation Board seeking to acquire 52 track miles in Iowa, including trackage rights, from Union Pacific Railroad.
The transaction includes a line between Dewar and Oelwein, Iowa, wye and yard track in Oelwein, and incidental trackage rights over UP's line between Dewar and Waterloo, Iowa.
After the transaction is completed, Iowa Northern Railway Co. would operate the lines for non-carrier D&W Railroad, according to the STB filing.
