Editor's note: This article has been updated to more accurately describe how the acquisition will complement Wabtec's existing solutions.
Wabtec Corp. today announced it has acquired Pittsburgh-based Bloom Engineering Inc., an industrial heating application provider, for $69 million.
Bloom's expertise in burners, combustion systems, and overall services for industrial and process heating applications will complement Wabtec’s capabilities in heat transfer and energy solutions. It will become part of Wabtec's freight and industrial components group, Wabtec officials said in a press release.
The acquisition occurred in fourth-quarter 2024.
Bloom’s design and engineering expertise has helped metal producers identify ways to become more efficient and unlock production capacity in plants, as well as decrease emissions.
“This is another exciting addition to Wabtec,” said Mike Fetsko, president of Wabtec’s freight and industrial components group. “Bloom Engineering is a great fit within our heat transfer and energy solutions business, and we already serve many of the same customers.”
