Patriot Rail Corp. and The Andersons Inc. reached an agreement under which The Andersons will perform rail-car maintenance and repair services at facilities owned by Patriot Rail's Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway in Anaconda, Mont. The parties plan to expand the agreement to include other Patriot Rail properties.

The Andersons will use the short line's roundhouse, rail facilities and tracks to service cars owned by third parties, as well as cars managed by The Andersons, which controls a fleet of 23,000 cars.

The Andersons maintains car repair shops in Ohio, Georgia, South Carolina and Mississippi. The Montana location will enable the company to better serve customers west of the Mississippi River, said The Andersons President Rasesh Shah in a prepared statement.

In addition to the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific, Patriot Rail owns and operates the Tennessee Southern Railroad, Utah Central Railway and Sacramento Valley Railroad.

"Rail-car owners throughout the western U.S. will now be able to have their cars repaired at a convenient location, resulting in reduced out-of-service time and improved utilization," said Patriot Rail President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Marino.
