Luxury passenger-train operator Rocky Mountaineer and Stadler Rail Group last week announced an agreement to add new rail cars to the railroad's fleet of custom-made GoldLeaf units.

Under the agreement, the rail company will receive 10 new cars beginning in 2018. The units will be re-engineered with "efficiency and guest comfort in mind," officials said in a joint press release.

Rocky Mountaineer is revitalizing its entire fleet of GoldLeaf and SilverLeaf rail cars. The largest capital investment in the railroad's 26-year history, the new custom made bi-level glass domed rail cars are the first to be added since 2007.

"We are constantly looking for ways to improve our guest experience which is the core of our business," said Steve Sammut president of Rocky Mountaineer.
