Today, Wabtec Corp. announced it appointed Albert Neupaver president and chief executive officer to succeed William Kassling, who will continue to serve as chairman.

Neupaver, who’ll join Wabtec’s board Feb. 1, most recently served as president of AMETEK Inc.’s electromechanical unit. Since joining AMETEK in 1988, he held stints as vice president and general manager of the specialty metals products division, and president of the industrial materials group. Prior to AMETEK, Neupaver served Pfizer Inc. for 11 years in various engineering, operating and business management positions.

“Al’s mix of analytical, managerial and technical skills provides him with all the necessary capabilities to lead Wabtec into the future,” said Kassling in a prepared statement.

Wabtec subsidiaries supply locomotive, and freight- and passenger-car components; build switchers and locomotives; and provide car and locomotive aftermarket services.
