Bombardier Transportation recently built the 1,000th M-7 electrical multiple unit at its Plattsburgh, N.Y., plant under a passenger-car contract with MTA Metro-North Railroad and MTA Long Island Rail Road.

The car builder is supplying 1,172 M-7 cars for the commuter-rail agencies. The vehicles’ stainless steel carbodies are being constructed at Bombardier’s La Pocatiére, Quebec, plant; final assembly and testing are being completed in Plattsburgh.
