Bombardier to build third people mover system for Las Vegas airport

Bombardier Transportation recently obtained a $43 million contract from Nevada’s Clark County Department of Aviation to build another automated people mover (APM) system at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport.

Bombardier will supply six CX-100 vehicles and all associated electrical and mechanical parts, such as signaling, communications, power supply systems and platform screen doors. The fleet will feature on-board security cameras and a flight information system.

Scheduled to be complete in January 2011, the 1,200-foot, dual-lane underground system will connect the airport’s new Terminal 3 with the existing D-gate concourse.

Bombardier has built and maintained McCarran Airport’s two current APMs since the systems opened in 1985 and 1988.
