Bombardier to supply vehicles, upgrade systems for Las Vegas airport people mover

Nevada’s Clark County Department of Aviation recently awarded a $43 million contract to Bombardier Transportation to supply vehicles for and rehabilitate a portion of two automated people mover shuttle systems at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

Bombardier will upgrade automatic train control, communications, power supply and distribution systems on two shuttle legs, as well as supply 10 CX-100 driverless vehicles to replace the airport’s existing fleet. Scheduled to be delivered between 2008 and 2009, the vehicles will feature on-board security cameras and flight information displays.

In June, the aviation department contracted Bombardier to supply six CX-100 vehicles and develop an underground shuttle system that will connect Terminal 3 with the existing D-gate concourse by early 2011.
