Bourque Data Systems Inc. (BDS) recently integrated its RAILTRAC® rail-car location and asset monitoring software with Satamatics’ Inmarsat D+ satellite communications network hardware to offer customers Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking technology.

The XML data integration will provide chemical shippers real-time car location and asset monitoring information to improve security and comply with upcoming U.S. regulations on toxic and poison inhalation hazards, said BDS President Steve Bourque in a prepared statement.

RAILTRAC features new GPS mapping and reporting functions, and a set of warning indicators that alert users if a haz-mat shipment falls outside of specifications.

“With this new monitoring layer, hazardous-material shippers can exert control and security to a new level,” said Bourque.
