CSXT, NS to use anti-freeze agent when loading coal cars in the cold

Earlier this month, CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Corp. approved the use of Midwest Industrial Supply Inc.’s freeze conditioning agents for loading coal cars.

The railroads will spray corrosion-resistant Freeze-Free® C-30I and Freeze-Free® S-10CI onto coal before loading the material into rail cars. Freeze-Free® C-30I, a chloride-based agent featuring corrosion inhibitors, and Freeze-Free® S-10CI, a DEG and chloride blend with corrosion inhibitors, are designed to ease material unloading during severe winter weather.

CSXT and NS already use several of Midwest Industrial Supply’s Freeze-Free® anti-freeze and de-icing products.
