GATX Corp. recently appointed Thomas Ellman chief commercial officer-rail. He will be responsible for the company’s North American rail-car fleet, sales, market analysis and customer support functions.

Most recently senior vice president of asset management for GE Equipment Services’ Rail Services, Ellman previously served GATX for 10 years in various fleet management and finance positions — including VP of fleet portfolio management — prior to joining GE.

“With his considerable market knowledge, rail-asset expertise and strong customer focus, Tom will … further enhance our leading position in the rail-car leasing and services market in North America,” said GATX Chief Operating Officer James Earl in a prepared statement.
