Rail News: Mechanical
FreightCar America Inc. recently appointed three service engineers and created an administrator position in the customer service department to better support the rail-car builder’s engineering and manufacturing functions.
The company named Matt Kline, Ben Pentazer and Jeff Boring service engineers, and appointed John Wagner to the newly created customer service administrator post to assist Manager of Customer Service Kevin Knarr. Current field inspection consultants Jim Peterson and Doug Johnson will continue to serve in those roles. Kline and Wagner have manufacturing backgrounds; FreightCar America promoted Pentazer and Boring from the company’s engineering department.
“These additional field engineers will allow us to more closely follow rail cars while in operation, which will enable us to more accurately evaluate the performance of that equipment,” said FreightCar America Vice President of Engineering Jim Hart in a prepared statement. “Better field analysis will speed the development of design improvements for each car type so we can bring advancements into production more rapidly.”
FreightCar America builds coal, flat, steel hopper, coil steel, mill gondola and intermodal cars, and motor vehicle carriers.
