G&B Specialties Inc.’s co-founder and top executive no longer is a member of parent company Global Railway Industries Ltd.’s board. Yesterday, Global Railway announced Lewis “Lew” Griffiths resigned from the board for personal reasons.

After co-founding G&B Specialties in 1979, Griffiths served as the company’s president and chief executive officer until 2003, when Global Railway acquired the track and signal component supplier. He then joined Global Railway’s board.

“Having worked in the rail industry for over 35 years, [Griffiths’] experience and leadership was a great asset to us all,” said Global Railway CEO Terry McManaman in a prepared statement.

Through subsidiaries G&B Specialties, Bach-Simpson Corp. and Prime Railway Services, Global Railway supplies event recorder monitoring/control systems, train speedometers, track and signal components, rail-car doors and replacement parts, and rail gear.
