GE Equipment Services, Rail Services, recently entered into a long-term rail-car maintenance and repair agreement with Millennium Rail.

The deal — under which GE will transition rail-car maintenance and repair from its Texarkana site to Millennium Rail’s Marshall, Texas, facility — "illustrates GE’s continued focus" on its core rail-car leasing business. said GE Equipment Services, Rail Services, President and Chief Executive Officer Ted Torbeck in a prepared statement.

To handle the increased repair and maintenance work, Millennium's Marshall facility likely will hire between 40 to 50 employees, and invest additional capital for plant expansion.

GE Equipment Services, Rail Services, leases about 80,000 rail cars and 150,000 intermodal trailers, containers and chassis to shippers and railroads. A rail-car repair and maintenance service provider, Millennium Rail has with eight U.S. facilities.
