Rail News: Mechanical
Today, GE Equipment Services, Rail Services appointed Tammee Thompson leader of the company's new rail-car services intermodal segment. She will be responsible for coordinating and implementing a strategy to cross-manage all container, chassis and trailer assets, and expanding GE's presence in the Mexican intermodal market.
Thompson previously served as a financial analyst for Morgan Stanley, consultant for Boston Consulting Group, senior e-business consultant for Ernst & Young L.L.C., and director of marketing research and customer service for ITT Sheraton/Caesars.
"Organizing our container, chassis and trailer assets under one leader allows us to better respond to the needs of the market and customer, and fully leverage the resources available across our entire organization more efficiently," said Ted Torbeck, president and chief executive officer of GE Equipment Services, Rail Services, in a prepared statement. "Tammee brings with her a tremendous knowledge of the intermodal industry, as well as a clear understanding of customer needs and market issues."
GE Equipment Services, Rail Services leases a fleet of about 180,000 rail cars — including grain and coal hoppers; tank, box and intermodal flat cars; specialty hoppers; and mill gondolas — and about 150,000 intermodal trailers.
