GE Equipment Services, Rail Services recently appointed Jay Wileman president and chief executive officer to succeed Ted Torbeck, who assumed a corporate position with General Electric Co. Wileman will be responsible for developing service offerings, expanding the rail unit’s global reach, and increasing its freight and intermodal car fleets.

Most recently services leader for GE’s Oil & Gas unit, Wileman joined the corporation in 1994, serving the Nuclear Energy division in various engineering and manufacturing capacities. He later became manager of the division’s Technical Services business. Prior to GE, Wileman served as a nuclear fuel engineer and commercial manager for Southern Co.

The Rail Services unit provides rail-car leasing, financial, maintenance, remarketing and asset tracking services. The company manages a fleet of 170,000 cars, including box, flat, plastics and tank cars; coal, grain and specialty hoppers; and mill gondolas. The unit also owns 150,000 intermodal trailers, containers and chassis.
