G&W's Rail Link lands multiple contracts

Genesee & Wyoming Inc.'s rail-car switching subsidiary Rail Link Inc. has secured five new contracts in the United States since September, the company announced yesterday.

Under the contracts, Rail Link will handle:

• renewable biofuels and liquid petroleum gases for a Southern California facility;
• wood chips, chemicals and containerboard for two large paper manufacturers — one in Savannah, Georgia, and the other in South Carolina;
• automobiles for a Texas port; and
• aggregates for a construction materials company’s Texas plant.

In addition to rail-car switching, Rail Link will provide the five customers with rail-car loading, unloading, cleaning, repairs and track inspection services, G&W officials said in a press release.
