The Greenbrier Cos. recently appointed longtime railroader John Nussrallah to serve as president of the car builder’s European operations.

Nusrallah’s car-building experience includes eight years with Trinity Industries Inc.’s rail-car division. As Trinity’s Group President-Rail Division from 1996 to 2001, he was responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and financial information for rail-car operations with 30 facilities and more than 8,300 employees. He also supervised Trinity's entry into the European market. Prior to becoming Group President, Nussrallah was executive vice president and general manager.

Before joining Trinity, Nussrallah spent nearly 30 years with Consolidated Rail Corp. (Conrail), which CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Corp. acquired in 1999. At Conrail, Nussrallah rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as vice president and chief mechanical officer.

More recently, Nussrallah served as an international management consultant.
