Greenbrier subsidiary to manage billing of BNSF's rail-car repairs
advertisement
Burlington Northern Santa Fe recently reached an agreement with Greenbrier Management Services (GMS) under which The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. subsidiary will manage the Class I's rail-car repair billing functions. Terms of the deal — which covers payables and receivables totaling about 8,000 bills annually — weren't disclosed.
A rail-car management company serving railroads, shippers and leasing firms, GMS will generate and distribute invoices for repairs performed by BNSF shops to cars owners, audit repair invoices issued to BNSF by other parties, and resolve bill exceptions or disputes.
"This agreement is consistent with our commitment to continuous improvement in efficiency," said Craig Hill, BNSF vice president of mechanical and value engineering, in a prepared statement. "We expect the technology and expertise of GMS to improve both the timeliness and accuracy of our freight-car repair billing processes."
