By spring's end, Johnstown America Corp. expects to complete delivery of 367 BethGon™ II gondolas and AutoFlood III™ automatic-discharge coal hopper cars to three customers.

GATX Rail and CIT Rail Resources have ordered 210 and 110 AutoFloods, respectively, and Detroit Edison Co. has ordered 47 BethGon IIs for its coal-gondola fleet.

AutoFlood IIIs feature the car builder's MegaFlo door system, a lighter tare weight and higher cubic capacity. First introduced in 1985 as the BethGon, BethGon IIs are the most commonly used gondola in western coal service, Johnstown America officials said a prepared statement.

Johnstown America designs and builds aluminum coal, flat and heavy-haul intermodal cars, mill gondolas, as well as the AVC™ aluminum motor-vehicle carrier and VersaCoil™ steel-coil car.
