Kansas City Southern to operate remote-controlled locomotives at its Laredo yard

During next few weeks, the Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR) will begin using remote-control locomotives (RCL) at its Laredo, Texas, yard. Train and engine-service crews at the yard have completed RCL training and are awaiting certification documentation.
So far, KCSR has equipped 50 locomotives with remote-control systems at yards in Kansas City, Mo.; Wylie, Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas; and Shreveport, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, La. The railroad plans to implement RCL at other locations throughout its system.
