GE Equipment Services recently named Eric LaBat chief marketing officer for the company’s Rail Services unit. In the newly created position, he will be responsible for developing marketing plans, and overseeing the launch of new services Maintenance Max — which is designed to help shippers improve asset management and reduce rail-car maintenance costs — and RailWise.

Most recently vice president of sales for Rail Services’ food, agriculture and minerals, and intermodal business units, LaBat previously spent 15 years at Union Pacific Railroad and CSX Transportation serving in various marketing, business development and sales positions.

GE Equipment Services, GE Rail Services leases cars and intermodal equipment to North American railroads and shippers. The company manages a fleet of more than 170,000 cars, and more than 150,000 intermodal containers, trailers and chassis.
