advertisement
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) recently began taking delivery of the first of 238 passenger cars being rehabilitated by ALSTOM Transportation Inc.
As part of a $266 million contract, ALSTOM is rehabilitating MARTA’s CQ310 and CQ311 cars, which entered service in 1979 and 1987, respectively. The rehabilitated cars will feature new rubber floors, doors, light fixtures, communications equipment, redesigned cabs, and climate control, propulsion and electrical systems.
The upgrades will extend the cars’ useful life by 15 years, according to a prepared statement. ALSTOM will deliver the cars through 2008.
