Rail News: Mechanical
The Association of American Railroads recently approved Midland Manufacturing’s new breather vent for hydrogen peroxide applications.
Part of Midland’s line of tank car valves and fittings, the breather vent features a component check valve in the cap that’s designed to prevent hydrogen peroxide from leaking if a tank car derails or turns over because of an accident. In addition, the vent features a stone filter instead of membrane filters to improve wear characteristics and chemical resistance.
Midland also offers a kit that fits three existing breather vent body styles and can be retrofitted in the field.
A division of the OPW Fluid Transfer Group, Midland provides tank car safety valves and equipment.
