New Jersey Transit recently awarded an $8 million contract to Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower Inc. to remanufacture five “clean diesel” switchers to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s "Tier 2" emission standards.
To be remanufactured at MotivePower’s Boise, Idaho, facility, the locomotives will feature automatic stop/start systems to improve fuel efficiency and extend component life.
