NYCT orders 28 work trains from MotivePower
advertisement
MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) recently awarded a $93 million contract to Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower Inc. to provide 28 work train locomotives. The contract includes an option for 10 additional locomotives.
To be built at MotivePower’s Boise, Idaho, facility next year, the locomotives will be designed to meet crew safety, low-clearance and weight requirements.
The locomotives — which will be delivered between 2007 and 2009 — will feature Wabtec braking equipment, radiators, microprocessor controls, AC propulsion systems and cabs at both ends.
NYCT will use the work trains to haul equipment and crews throughout the subway system.
