The Port Terminal Railroad Association (PTRA) recently placed an order for EnerTeck Chemical Corp.’s EnerBurn™ Diesel Combustion Improver — the supplier’s first rail industry order.

Controlled by BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad, PTRA found the fuel additive reduced fuel consumption about 10 percent during tests.

EnerTeck now will supply EnerBurn to railroad, trucking and maritime firms.

“Our customers are experiencing reduced fuel, oil consumption, emissions and maintenance requirements,” said EnerTeck Chief Executive Officer Dwaine Reese in a prepared statement.

Formed in 1924, PTRA maintains 154 track miles in the Houston area. The association’s members are BNSF, UP and The Texas Mexican Railway Co.
