FreightCar America Inc. is about to welcome a new chief operating officer and successor to President and Chief Executive Officer John Carroll Jr.
Yesterday, the car builder announced it named Christian Ragot COO. Most recently president of Terex Utilities and Roadbuilding, he will assume the post Jan. 29, then become FreightCar America’s president and CEO on April 30. In late October, Carroll announced plans to step down from the top post at April’s end to pursue other interests.
Ragot has served Terex Corp. the past seven years in various senior executive positions, including president of subsidiaries Terex Utilities and American Crane, and senior vice president of sales and aftermarket services. Prior to Terex, he served Ingersoll-Rand Co. in various management capacities, including VP and general manager of the firm’s Air Compressor Group-Europe.
“[Ragot] has considerable experience that will serve him well as president and CEO, including experience in heavy industries, in driving strategic and profitable growth, and in providing visionary leadership,” said FreightCar America Chairman Camillo Santomero III in a prepared statement.
FreightCar America builds coal, flat, intermodal and coil steel cars; steel hoppers; mill gondolas; and motor vehicle carriers.
