Rail Theory Forecasts™ recently published "North American Freight Car Market – 2004," a 280-page book offering rail-car market analysis and forecasts.

Targeted at North American rail industry investors and suppliers, the book features historical reviews and projections of all railroad traffic segments, insights into industry and economic effects on future carloads and rail-car orders, and delivery forecasts (based on statistical models) for all major car types in 2004 and beyond.

"Private investors now own over 75 percent of the rail cars in the U.S., and most of these cars are on short-term operating leases to railroads and rail shippers," said Toby Kolstad, Rail Theory Forecasts principal and Progressive Railroading columnist, in a prepared statement. "The volatility of rail-car lease rates during the last twenty years, the high casualty rate of companies involved in this business, and the huge risks associated with investments in almost every type of rail car make a thorough knowledge of the railroad and rail car business a prerequisite to successful investing."

Rail Theory Forecasts is offering the book, a semi-annual update, and a rail-car market analysis and forecasting service for $4,000. For more information, call 503-656-0870 or email tkolstad@aol.com.
