Today, RailPower Technologies Corp. announced today it signed assembly and supply agreements with Super Steel Products Corp. and Super Steel Schenectady Inc.
Super Steel will assemble RailPower’s hybrid Green Goat® locomotive at a Schenectady, N.Y., facility.
“We felt it appropriate to bring online additional manufacturing capacity for our locomotive production,” said RailPower President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Maier in a prepared statement.
“[Super Steel’s] facility gives us significant capacity for the large, East Coast markets.”
The 2,000-horsepower Green Goat is designed to cut fuel usage between 40 percent and 70 percent and reduce emissions between 80 percent and 90 percent compared with a conventional switcher.
