Yesterday, Amsted Rail announced it appointed Mark Shirley president of subsidiary Griffin Wheel Co. Inc., effective July 1. He will succeed William Demmert, who will retire after serving as president the past 11 years.
Griffin Wheel’s vice president of manufacturing since 2003, Shirley has held various engineering and marketing positions — including works manager at a Groveport, Ohio facility — during his 18-year career with the company.
Griffin Wheel produces cast steel wheels for freight cars and locomotives at plants in Ohio, Iowa, Kansas, Canada and China. Amsted Rail also owns ASF-Keystone Inc. and Brenco Inc.
