advertisement

Siemens Transportation Systems recently obtained traction control contracts from three transit agencies totaling more than $100 million.

Siemens will supply AC traction drive propulsion systems for 340 heavy-rail cars being built for the Port Authority Trans-Hudson by Kawasaki Rail Car Inc.

The company also will provide propulsion systems for 28 work locomotives being built for MTA New York City Transit by Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower Inc.

Finally, Siemens will supply propulsion controls and microprocessors to replace DC chopper-control traction motors on 100 Toronto Transit Commission light-rail vehicles.
