Today, The Watco Cos. Inc. announced it appointed Wayne Sigley director of locomotive strategy. He will be responsible for managing Watco’s locomotive fleet and setting performance standards.

Sigley most recently served as chief operating officer of the short-line holding company’s Southeast Region. He will continue to manage the region while Watco merges the Northeast and Southeast regions. Randy Bennett will continue to serve as Northeast Region COO during the transition.

“Wayne has worked in the rail industry for 38 years and has maintained his focus on the mechanical side of rail transportation,” said Watco President Terry Towner in a prepared statement.

Owner of 12 short lines operating in 19 states, Watco expects soon to name an East Region COO.
