Johnstown America Corp. recently finished delivering 360 BethGon® II coal gondolas to Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCO).

The utility plans to use the cars — which expand NIPSCO's fleet to 1,730 cars — in three 120-car unit train sets to move coal from the Illinois and Powder River basins, and Pennsylvania coal fields to northern Indiana power-generation facilities. The utility is leasing the 286,000-pound gross-load cars from General Electric Railcar Services Corp.

Johnstown America also designs and builds aluminum coal, flat and intermodal cars, mill gondolas, AVC aluminum motor-vehicle carriers and VersaCoil™ steel-coil cars.
